Black-framed glass wine room with a full-height glass door and gold pull, wine racks visible inside.

Glass wine room

Residential · Hopkins, MN

A custom glass wine room built to the homeowner's specifications. Insulated glass helps hold the room's temperature while keeping the collection on display. We fabricated the frame in our Burnsville shop, and our own crew installed it. One shop handled it from measure to final install. Built in Hopkins, MN, with Zehnder Homes.

Antique mirror bar backsplash

Residential · Minneapolis, MN

A full-height antique mirror backsplash behind a home bar. The mirror's mottled silvering softens the reflection, so the bottles and lighting glow instead of glare. Each panel was made and fit in our shop. Installed in Minneapolis with Partners 4 Design.

Back-painted bent glass for Empirehouse

Curved back-painted glass at Empirehouse

We were proud to work with Empirehouse on this project. The scope included ½″ low-iron glass back-painted in the customer's custom white selection, plus two curved pieces finished to match.

That last part is the hard part. Back-painting and bending fight each other, and low-iron white is the one finish that shows every flaw in either process. Getting the curved pieces to match the flat panels in color and in gloss, across a curve, is the whole job.

Colors sampled from the photos. The glass reads a shade deeper because you see the paint through the glass.

The homeowners wanted their shower to carry the color of the room beside it. We matched the back-paint on the shower walls to that room's wall paint, so from the doorway the two read as one color.

Back-painted glass gives a shower a single seamless wall with no grout lines to clean. The color is on the back of the glass, so it stays protected, and it can be matched to almost any paint chip you bring us.

The pattern

Most of the good work starts as “can you even make this?”

Bent and back-painted at the same time. Bonded so the corner disappears. Etched to a geometry a conservation body would sign off on. If a piece of glass is the reason a design isn't working, that's the call we want.
